This week we had 4 doctor's appointments:
- Boys had a check up and both were still gaining as hoped. Everett was 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and Levi was 8 pounds, 4 ounces. Doctor also answered the question of the ages for me--do we consider the boys to be 7 weeks old or 1 week old? She said they are 1 week old, period. My expectations regarding sleeping and eating have to reflect that. It also makes much more sense when you look at their behavior (very little awake time).
- Everett had his hip ultrasound which ruled out any dysplasia that could have developed from his position in utero.
- Levi had an appointment with a cardiologist to investigate his heart murmur. He had 2 hours worth of tests, including a 45-minute ultrasound where he had to be fully tied and restrained, and he barely whimpered the entire time! I soothed and shooshed him and gave him his pacifier and he was SUCH a trooper. The murmur was declared benign, sometimes called innocent. It won't disappear, but it will also never cause problems.
- My follow-up. Great fun.
I can't believe how big the boys are getting. A high-calorie supplement is added to their breastmilk or formula so the weight-gain is strategic, but at on ounce a day they seem to change overnight! Their newborn-size outfits have been added to the "outgrown" pile already. Kind of sad.
