Boys are definitely noticing each other and the dogs. Buddy in particular serves as wonderful entertainment. Every time they catch a glimpse of him they're in awe and if they happen to see his face they just beam. Of course I love it.
Everett has been on the Gentlease formula for a couple weeks now and it really does seem to be doing the trick. Evenings are still very difficult but we just aren't sure if it's from the reflux of if he just wants mom to hold him. I keep saying we broke him because we've been holding him before bed because he has to sit up for 30 minutes before laying down and now he wants that 30 minutes to last an entire night. We'll see. We have a consult on Monday the 24th and then they'll schedule an upper GI.
Neither boy is rolling over but both do leg lifts constantly and swing themselves to their sides easily. Of course they grasp toys like crazy, although you can really see them willing their arms to actually make the move. It's amazing. Everett loves the exersaucer.
Levi is still really loving is gym with the dog. He touches the toys with his feet now, so cute.
They are both very smiley and giggly, and light up as soon as I start singing to them.
One morning I carried Levi into the bathroom with me before I went to warm up bottles. I set him on my robe on the floor, and decided to leave him there while I ran downstairs to the kitchen, and when I returned he was sound asleep. He slept there for 30 more minutes.
Hannah came to visit for the weekend, driving all the way from Massachusetts to visit us. It was a great time and I think her and the boys all fell in love with each other. One afternoon we walked to Caribou, all seven of us.
Our highchairs arrived this week and Levi enlisted Hannah to help him assemble. The boys love them, and it makes feeding such a pleasure. They really never liked the bumbos and feeding time became more about escaping the chairs then learning how to eat! Hannah says they look like kings on their thrones. I totally agree.
Snapshot in time: For feedings, boys are offered 8 ounces of formula at 6, 9, 12, 3 and 6:45. At 5 they eat a meal of squash and rice. They still nap often, in fact between every single feeding, although the 10am and 1pm naps are clearly the dominant ones and are getting more and more lengthy, sometimes spanning 2 hours! We're playing with an earlier bedtime since they are so fussy by 6pm but so far it doesn't seem to fit. Might go back to the later. Both boys are sleeping until at least 5:30am or 6am, although Ev has had a couple of 5am wakeups, especially if he had a difficult evening before and might have extended his bedtime until 8pm or so. It really is true--sleep begets sleep. Actually at night they are still separated--we were teaching Levi to cry out his 4am wakeup, and now we have to keep the separate because of Everett's difficult evenings! We have Levi in his basket but he will definitely outgrow it within the next month. He does fine in his cribs and does sleep there for naps, but we need them separated at night for just a little while longer until we figure out how to help Everett.
